Emma Update

Emma is now 14 months old!

She...
  • can say "tasty", "okay", "Connor", "who's that?", "Rapunzel" (not all the syllables but you know what she is talking about), and "hot"
  • knows what sound cows make ("mmmmmmo"), and the sound puppies make (*heavy breathing) *both are confused with the sound dinosaurs make
  • still shy around people she doesn't know. At least for about five min.
  • favorite food: hot dogs.

Fine. Favorite food: ketchup

At least she has mastered forks

And burritos

*somewhat
  • Doing a fantastic job walking but only at home. She also can now do the cute little baby run. When out and about...she crawls still. *sigh
  • She has to be approaching 30 lbs. My back is killing me.
  • Not a huge cold weather fan.
  • Has pushed out 6 new teeth in the last two and a half weeks. Bringing the total tooth count to 14. Life has been awful but I guess getting them all out at once is the way to go.
  • Still a big fan of peekaboo

and spaghetti

lots of spaghetti

and a fan of yogurt

but she eats it like this

so then she looks like that

  • She also still enjoys Tangled. So much so that if you do not distract her in any way she will watch the entire movie without moving.

Teddy gets the best seat in the house

  • David has been having a good month. He got promoted

And got awarded black belt

* so basically my husband can take down your husband. A trait he seems to have passed on to Emma. She kept pushing down/body slamming a little boy her age at David's work Christmas party. She made him cry. She laughed hysterically when he cried. I might of been one proud Momma.

We also got to go see David play a couple of Christmas concerts/parades this month

Baby Connor and Emma like watching their Daddy's play

And most of the time they like each other.

Emma likes her Momma.

And her baby doll

But mostly Daddy

And sleeping.

Everyday is something new. Miss you all.

Happenings

These past few months have been pretty lousy. Without boring you with details...just know I am very, VERY excited about Thanksgiving break and getting to finally spend time with David. Here is a little of what we (me and Em) have been doing these past few days.

Playing with her car

Walks in her red shoes

Discovering leaves

Endless peek-a-boo

Wonderful bean bag chair (thanks Daddy!)

Coffee for me :)

Trying to create an epic ponytail

And getting 5 more teeth at once

That last one has been awful. Poor kiddo. One more day...I can do this. Sending lots of love.

Emma Update

EmmaLee is now 13 months old. ahhh the toddler stage.

She. . .
  • can say "Emma", "choo choo", "whats that?"
  • can sign "thank you", "good night", "wait", "stop", "go","flower", "outside"
  • knows most parts of the body. Eyes, nose, lips, tongue, hair, fingers, toes. All of these can be confused with 'ears'. Not sure why but once she knows she has ears...everything is an ear.
  • Favorite foods: pb&j sandwiches, pb&banana sandwiches, carrots, hot cocoa
  • Least favorite foods: hummus and cucumber
  • Can now walk. woot. Especially barefooted. Walking with shoes is more of a zombie shuffle than actual walking but she is making progress.
  • Is still in a love/hate relationship with Switzer.
  • Can play peekaboo 24/7 and never get bored.

ever

  • Still loves dinosaurs. Luckily we have a bouncy one at the park by our house. *rawr
  • Loves her car

  • And loves her wagon

  • And loves Tangled
  • She is down to one nap a day. (which is heaven for this Momma) She wakes up at 8:30 or 9, then naps 2:00-5:00, then goes to bed at 8 or 8:15. love.
  • She now unzips her sleepers in the middle of the night. I go to get her in the morning and she is naked except for the one button at the top. Still hasn't figured that one out yet.
  • All 4 one year molars are popping out at once plus tooth #8. yay. So 7 completely out, 3 moving in and 2 holes with the start of teeth coming through. 12 teeth is all.
  • Her hair is sooooo close to being long enough to put up in a ponytail. Hopefully only a few more weeks of the mullet look.
  • This past month, and the couple months before, Daddy has been busy at work so we have not seen him very much BUT

 She loves her Momma.

 and her red shoes
(I had to hide them so she would stop crying after I took them off for nap time)

and we get to play with baby Connor :)
Every day is something new.

Smarty Pants

Okay. So I have been extremely proud of my kiddo these past two weeks because of her use of sign language.

Before EmmaLee was born I only really knew two signs...

"more" and "all done"

So those are the first signs Emma learned back in June. Then we put a couple of toes on the 'baby signing time' train. We rented the first two from Amazon on our PS3 and watched them for about a week. WOW

...me and David learned a lot ;)

But we wondered what Emma got from those shows. She would make signs (milk, cracker, fish, dog) but they were never constant until after her birthday last week. It was like "oh I am a one year old now...."

light bulb

signing genius

Emma now signs all the time. I ask her if she wants lunch...she signs "eat". When I ask her if she wants a sandwich...she signs "please". When I ask her if she is all done....she can sign "more" or "all done". When I ask her if she wants to take a nap....she signs "eat"...then after I give her a snack and ask her again if she wants to take a nap....she signs "sleep". when she wants up she says "up" then signs "please". When playing with Switzer she signs "gentle" (not that she is gentle) and "dog". When we talk about babies...she signs "baby" and so on. She is communicating what she wants now and not having as many temper tantrums (and not biting me as much). I am not sure how long this will last but it is incredible seeing her sign without prompting. We have been trying to take her morning nap away but for two days now she has come up to me around 1030am and signed "sleep". Oh, sign language I love you.

'more'

'gentle'

'baby'

'milk'

'momma, stop taking pictures of me I am trying to finish breakfast'
